The Tatamagouche Hook and Ladder Company was founded in 1902 by local funeral director E.C. McLellan, who also served as its first captain, at Tatamagouche, N.S. It was a volunteer company, originally comprised of 36 members who held meetings at Nelson's Hall, the community hall. It is now know as the Tatamagouche Volunteer Fire Department.
