              Fonds consists of financial records of St. John's Anglican Church, Oyster Pond, N.S., and includes a book listing donations received by the church with the names of the donors, collections information, records of money received from hall rentals, and other income sources. The book also records money paid to the minister and other miscellaneous expenses for the years 1941 to 1943. Some transactions and calculations are also recorded on loose sheets of paper. Also included are receipts from wholesale merchant P.H. Weary for hardware, oil, and other supplies, as well as a 1940 tax notice and receipt from the Municipality of the County of Halifax and a note requesting payment of insurance fees. 2010.007
              Lena Ferguson fonds

              Fonds consists of approximately 137 hours of oral history interviews conducted by Lena Ferguson. Most interviewees were residents of the Eastern Shore region of Halifax County, particularly the Chezzetcook area. Interview topics include genealogy, local industries, occupations, music, shipping, community life, traditions, and folklore. In addition to interviews, the creator recorded school reunions, concerts, weddings, and church anniversaries. Several paper transcripts are included as well as scrapbooks featuring articles written by Lena and other newspaper articles regarding the Chezzetcook area. 2019.014

              East Jeddore School fonds
              Fonds · 1921-1936
              Fonds consists of records of the East Jeddore School and consists of a ledger which records school taxes owed by individual taxpayers for the period of 1930-1936, along with their payment status. Also recorded are teacher salaries, supply costs, insurance fees, and other expenses for the same period. In addition, the ledger book includes minutes of school meetings from 1923-1935. Also includes a sheet of paper which records valuations of taxpayers’ property in East Jeddore and school taxes for 1921. Accession number 2009.039

              Consists of records created and accumulated by Grace Edith Forsythe primarily during her career as an educator and as a result of her involvement with the Marine Highway Historical Society, including records related to her teaching career, photographs, and material related to local history. Also included are publications produced by the Marine Highway Historical Society as well as layouts and preliminary copies. Contents also include scrapbooks, correspondence, advertisements, recipes, and material related to the Red Cross Society. In addition, fonds includes records acquired by Grace Forsythe and related to her aunt and uncle Cora (Harpell) and Sandy Myers, who owned the Salmon River House and with whom Grace lived for a time.               Part of Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds
              Series forms part of the Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds and consists of records related to Alexander ‘Sandy’ and Cora (Harpell) Myers, who was the sister of Grace’s mother. Cora was born on January 26, 1896 in West Jeddore and became a teacher in the early 1900s. She and her husband Sandy (1893-1957) owned the Salmon River House where Grace lived for several years following her retirement. A note found among the records indicates that they were used by Grace to help create the publications produced by the Marine Highway Historical Society. The series includes a photograph of Cora Harpell’s class at Ostrea Lake School in 1915 with the names of the students; a scrapbook containing clippings of songs; stories; and the prize winners of a matrimonial letter contest featuring Cora’s entry, No Fake Gentleman. Also included are various clippings regarding her school in Ostrea Lake; her graduating class from the Provincial Normal College in 1914; as well as handwritten poems and stories. Series also includes the lyrics to the Normal College school song, an application for a teacher’s license in 1912 that was rejected because she was too young, and a teacher’s license issued in 1914, as well as an earlier letter from a friend in1911. Cora died in Musquodoboit Harbour on February 24, 1995 at the age of 99. Series also contains receipts including postal and remitters’ receipts, invoices, ration forms and coupons, product labels, local business letterhead and advertisements, coupons, tax assessments, a tax notice, and enumeration records. Also included is correspondence to Sandy Myers from people coming to Salmon River House, a Christmas card from Arnold Logan, a Guide’s License, and an order form for a vest.               Fonds consists of correspondence written to Walter, Hannah, and Laura Stoddard as well as records related to churches and church societies and memorabilia related to the First World War that was found in the Stoddard Hotel. Fonds also contains financial records including insurance policies and tax receipts as well as post office records including ledgers of records of registered mail. Remaining records include permits, dance step instructions, quilt patterns, paintings by Harold Brownhill, a poem by Burns Marks, a label from E. Homan’s clam cannery, a brochure for a Camp Charlotte, a sign erected by the Cranberry Committee, and a business card and photograph of Judge F. M. Morson. Accession number 2013.010

              Series is part of the Laura F. Stoddard family fonds and contains one booklet from The Great-West Life Assurance Company that includes financial notes as well as a handwritten will whose author and beneficiaries are unknown. Series also includes one Halifax County tax receipt to Walter Stoddard from 1903, one life insurance policy for W. E. Stoddard from 1914 and one insurance policy renewal notice. Series also consists of one permit for transit from Halifax to Clam Harbour for the body of Florence Stoddard, sister of Laura Stoddard. Accession number: 2013.010
