Administrative history

Arthur Fordham was a leather merchant based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His shop was located at 148 Upper Water Street in the 1870s. The McAlpine's Halifax City Directory for 1883-1884 shows that Fordham resided at 3 Creighton Street and his shop was located at 106 Upper Water Street.

Custodial history

Records were donated to the Dalhousie University Archives in accession (1971-002) by Robert Hemming in January 1971.

Scope and content

Fonds contains records documenting Arthur Fordham's leather merchant activities from 1899-1967. Fonds includes miscellaneous early records, 1899-1933; sales and purchases journals, 1921-1953; cash books, 1918-1962; ledgers, 1921-1967; correspondence, 1920-1950; and financial statements, 1933-1964.
