    Biographical history

Carl Mills was born and raised in London, Ontario. His interest in airplanes began as an Air Cadet and continued while in the Royal Canadian Air Force Auxiliary at 420 (F) and 2420 AC&W Squadrons. After graduating from the University of Waterloo in 1965 as an electrical engineer, he joined 400 Air Reserve Squadron in Toronto as an engineering officer. He was involved in the recruiting and training of ground crews for aircraft maintenance. It was then that he became involved with the "Banchee historical project", beginning with the restoration of Royal Canadian Navy Banchee "464" for the National Aviation Museum in Ottawa. After twenty-four years of service with the Air Force Reserves, he left in 1983 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is the author of a book entitled Banchees in the Royal Canadian Navy and presently resides in Toronto.
