Administrative history
East Camp Veterans Association was founded by Laurie Farrington and Jack Morris in 1983 at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Its mandate is to promote, preserve and protect the memory of East Camp, a British Commonwealth Air Training base which trained bomber air crews and telegraphist air gunners during World War II. The Association began holding reunions and in turn began the collection of stories, photographs and personal mementos. In 1992, veterans of West Camp also began having reunions and the two groups became affiliated. West Camp was an air base during the first two years of World War II and later an RCAF base for Anti-Submarine Bomber Reconnaissance Squadrons and flight crew training. The group is now known as the East and West Camp Veterans Association and currently continue their activities.
