    Biographical history

    Effie Porter Hogg was born 30 October 1857 in Springfield, Nova Scotia, daughter of the Rev. Jacob and Caroline (Moses) Porter. Rev. Jacob Porter was minister of the Barrington Free Baptist Church. Effie became a schoolteacher and married William Sherad Hogg (d. 1928) on 30 September 1893. The couple resided in Barrington and had at least one daughter, Edith. Effie Hogg died 6 June 1941.

    Scope and content

    Collection consists of correspondence to Effie Hogg from her daughter Edith and Edith's husband, Ben. Also includes deeds and correspondence of the Hogg family of Barrington, Nova Scotia and material relating to Jacob Porter (his will, deeds and indentures). Effie Hogg had been given power of attorney for the Jacob Porter estate.

        Reverend Jacob Porter was a minister in the Barrington Free Baptist Church in Nova Scotia. He was married to Caroline Moses, and they had a daughter, Effie.
