Administrative history
The Committee on Curriculum was established in 1966 by the Saint Mary's University Senate. 'The Committee on Curriculum shall review submissions for new courses and changes in existing programs and courses presented to it by the Deans of Faculty and report on these submissions to Senate with recommendations. The committee shall pay particular attention to the relationship of proposed new courses to existing courses offered by the same or other departments so that needless duplication may be avoided. The committee shall examine existing programs of study and recommend to Senate on their effectiveness or feasibility. The committee shall examine the requirements for degrees, diplomas (certificates) and recommend changes in these requirements to Senate. The committee shall investigate and report on the budgetary implications of all new courses and course changes' (Senate By-Laws 1981). The Committee on Curriculum was succeeded by the Committee on Curriculum and Academic Planning from 1977 to 1980. The committee is composed of: the Academic Vice-President or Dean of Faculty, one faculty member from each Faculty, one student senator, the Registrar, and one elected Senate member (Senate By-Laws 1981).
