Biographical history
Samuel Elder was born in Halifax, NS, in 1817. He taught in Western Cornwallis, then known as Pleasant Valley. He graduated from Acadia College in 1844 with a B.A. He was ordained in Fredericton in 1845 and preached for eight years until his health failed. At the Acadia College anniversary in 1843, he presented a poem about the expulsion of the Acadians, entitled "External Nature Colored by the Soul's Own Emotions". Rev. Samuel Elder died in Philadelphia in 1853. (Acadia Record)
