Biographical history

Ken Dewar grew up in Edmonton and taught at the University of Victoria, Wilfrid Laurier, and Carleton before coming to the Mount in 1982. He also owned a bookstore for a number of years in Elora, Ontario. He retired in June 2011 and was awarded Professor Emeritus status in the Department of History.

Scope and content

The Teaching Activities series contains mainly course lecture notes, discussion questions, and in class activities including copies of quizzes and tests. The series also contains copies of primary source documents that were assigned as required reading to students.

The records cover the years 1970 to 2011 and include material from Kenneth Dewar’s time with various universities, including Mount Saint Vincent University, University of Victoria, University of Toronto and Wilfred Laurier University. History courses covered include The West and the World, Social and Cultural History of Canada, History of Childhood, Canadian Political Culture, Pre-Confederation and post-Confederation Canada, Canadian women and upper-level history seminars on various topics.
