Biographical history
Verna (Mildred) Keddy, the daughter of Margaret Caroline (Daurey) and George Duff Keddy, was born at Clearland, Lunenburg County in 1899. In 1920, she emigrated to the United States, living in Massachusetts, where, for a time, she worked as a seamstress in a clothing factory. She also worked in Russo’s candy store in Malden, Massachusetts, where she met John Russo (c.1897-1967), whom she married c. 1928. Verna Russo died at Stoneham, Massachusetts in 1993.
Custodial history
The photographs were originally found in a photo album owned and assembled by Verna (Keddy) Russo. They were later passed on to Verna's daughters Louise (Russo) Hunt and Joan (Keddy) Russo. Joan donated them to the museum in 2016 (Acc. # 2016.1.3 - 2016.1.111) together with several artifacts.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of photographs either taken or collected by Verna (Keddy) Russo. The photographs, which date primarily from the 1905-1930 period, document the lives of both the Keddy family and many of their friends and neighbours.
