    The majority of the early correspondence consists of bills and correspondence relating to parts purchased to build boats by W.A. Hickman. Some of correspondence was received from such companies as Douglas V. Company Limited and Robb Engineering Co. of Amherest, James A. Stairs and The Nova Scotia Steele and Coal Co. of New Glasgow, and D.C. Kirk of Antigonish. Pictou companies represented in the correspondence include the Pictou Foundry and Machine Co., James McLean & Sons and W.C. Wetmore & Co, as well as William Macdonald, Barrister, and Macdonald & Ives, Barristers. The series also contains correspondence to companies in New Brunswick, Toronto, Montreal and the United States.
