Sous-fonds consists of Zymergy was formed in 1987 by Sonja Skarstedt and ran until 1991. This bi-annual periodical was the recipient of many Canada Council grants. As the creator, publisher, and editor, Skarstedt was involved in all aspects of the printing process, from editing the content, layout and design to typesetting, paste-ups, and promotion. Skarstedt also interviewed many prominent Canadian authors for Zymergy and contributed book reviews and poetry.This sous-fond consists of four series: photographs, administration, Operational Records Series and Miscellaneous Series. The material found ranges from correspondence with organizations and writers to photographs that appeared in Zymergy. Skarstedt conducted many interviews for Zymergy and other publications, some of these are included in the Operational Records series along with her editorials and reviews. There are also 2 stamps with the Zymergy logo and address that were used for documents.

Fonds consists of records from Skarstedts various writing and publishing activities, as well as her personal life. The records contained in this fonds span Skarstedt's years as a secondary student up until the end of her life in 2009. Fonds consists of one sous-fonds - the Zymergy fonds - which contains records that reflect Skarstedt's involvement with the Zymergy literary magazine. Fonds consists of six series: Correspondence (1926-2005), Diaries (1977-1999), Notebooks (1946 - 1987), Artwork (1980 - [after 1996]), Photographs (1973 - [ca. 1995]), Manuscripts and Poems (1975 - 2005). Fonds consists of correspondence with friends and politicians; a variety of publications, pamphlets, newsletters, and programs; photographs; poetry manuscripts; miscellaneous newspaper clippings, some regarding the Nova Scotia Centre of the Poetry Society; and a scrapbook of miscellaneous newspaper clippings. Part of Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds
Series consists of publications produced by the Marine Highway Historical Society between 1977 and 1985. Grace Forsythe was the treasurer of the Marine Highway Historical Society, contributed to the production of these publications, and in later issues served as editor along with Helen Jennex. Publications in this series include two volumes of verses compiled by Reuben George, an unbound copy of Reminiscence (1976) given to Ada Williams by Helen Jennex, Rambling Memories (1977), Forget- Me-Not Reflections (1978), Backward Glances (1979), Children’s Thoughts (1980), Around the Harbour (1981 with 1983,1988 updates), One Day at a Time (1982), Along the Shore (1982), Eight Years of Marine Whispers (1983), The Gull’s Cry (1984), Bygone Snippets (1984) and Marine Whispers (1985). Series also contains a preliminary copy of a book entitled Memory Verses (1984).Also included are loose pages of publication layouts featuring collages of advertisements, letterheads, and other memorabilia. Part of Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds
Series forms part of the Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds and consists of publications issued by the Society, including leaflets, booklets, newsletters, a cookbook, and a novel entitled Chetigne Island (which was originally published circa 1916 in West Chezzetcook and was reprinted by the society in 1979). Series also includes correspondence, drafts and other material relating to these publications. In addition, the series contains other publications not issued by the Society, but relating to it or of local historical relevance, including booklets, leaflets and newsletters.

Sub-series forms part of history and heritage activities series of the Helen Jennex fonds and consists of page layout collages for portions of Marine Highway Historical Society publications in which Helen Jennex was involved, including Eight Years of Marine Whispers. The layouts are for the graphical parts of the publications and consist of photographs, clippings, text, and other material glued onto sheets of white paper. Included is the original drawing for the front cover of the society's publication The Gull’s Cry. Accession number 2009.039
