Biographical history

The Reverend William R. Tratt was born in England in 1850. After being ordained as a Methodist minister he and his wife, Naomi Ann Tratt (née Heal) immigrated to Newfoundland c. 1876. In 1899 they came to Nova Scotia, serving in various churches around the province. The last twenty years of his life were spent in Wentworth, Cumberland County, where he died in 1934. Tratt and his wife were survived by their son, Heber.

Custodial history

Donated by Grace Tratt, granddaughter of William and Naomi Tratt, in 1973.

Scope and content

Fonds comprises correspondence and personal papers of William R. Tratt and Naomi Tratt (1890-1932). It also contains Herber Tratt's academic records and financial statements (1908-1910), temperance certificates for Gertrude, Wilfred and Elsie Tratt (1931), and Methodist Church Statistical Returns (1915).
