Item consists of a composite photograph of the 1949-1950 Halifax City Council. The photograph consists of oval portraits of council members, including Mayor Gordon Stanley Kinley, wearing the chain-of-office and robes; and senior staff including Verdun Mitchell, Chief of Police; A.P. Publicover, City Clerk; F.C. MacGillvray, Chief of Fire Department; J.F. McManus, City Assessor; N.L. Sherman, Commissioner of Finance; A.R. Morton, Commissioner of Health and Welfare; C.P. Bethune, City Solicitor; F.C. Woods, Commissioner of Works; A.P. Flynn, City Electrician; J.P. Dumaresq, Town Planning Engineer, arranged in several rows. The words "Halifax City / Council / 1949-1950 / 200th Anniversary" are written below the photographs. Charcoal or graphite illustrations of sailboats, an unidentified building, the Halifax clock tower, and the Dingle tower are drawn in each corner, and the coat of arms of Halifax is drawn in the centre.
