Fonds consists of financial records of St. John's Anglican Church, Oyster Pond, N.S., and includes a book listing donations received by the church with the names of the donors, collections information, records of money received from hall rentals, and other income sources. The book also records money paid to the minister and other miscellaneous expenses for the years 1941 to 1943. Some transactions and calculations are also recorded on loose sheets of paper. Also included are receipts from wholesale merchant P.H. Weary for hardware, oil, and other supplies, as well as a 1940 tax notice and receipt from the Municipality of the County of Halifax and a note requesting payment of insurance fees. 2010.007

Sub-series forms part of school activities series of the Helen Jennex fonds and consists of yearbooks from schools where Helen Jennex was a teacher or principal, including the Oyster Pond School yearbook for 1955-1956, the Musquodoboit Harbour Consolidated School yearbook for 1956-57 entitled Marine Whispers, and the Robert Jamison Memorial Consolidated High School yearbooks for 1958-1959 through to 1964-65, also entitled Marine Whispers. Sub-series also includes Oyster Pond School newspapers from 1956-57 and 1947-48, and a Robert Jamison Memorial school newspaper from 1959. 2009.039

Sub-series forms part of school activities series of the Helen Jennex fonds and consists of black-and-white photographs from schools where Helen Jennex was a teacher or principal. Most are from the Robert Jamison Memorial Consolidated High School, and include photographs of classes, clubs, and other groups related to the school. Series also includes two modern reproductions of Oyster Pond School photographs, one from around the 1940s which includes Helen Jennex, and another from 1944 which includes Mildred Hosking, who also taught at the school. Also included is a modern reproduction of a May 13, 1915 school photograph located at Oyster Pond. Series also includes two colour class photographs from the Jeddore Lakeville Elementary School which include Jennex. Series also contains a portrait photograph possibly of Helen Jennex’s son Otis Jr. In addition, series includes some original page layouts for year books and other publications, consisting of photographs, text and other material pasted on to pieces of paper. 2009.039

Series forms part of F. Mitchell, Hosking family fonds and consists of a booklet containing financial records of the Missionary and Maintenance (M & M) Fund from 1959 to 1966 as well as sheet music for the song, “My Prayer.” The Missionary and Maintenance Fund was operated by a committee within the United Church. The funds were collected and sent to Mrs. Gaetz of Musquodoboit Harbour, who was the general secretary. Accession number 2003.011

Series forms part of the Hosking’s Garage fonds and consists of forty-three receipt books for the garage dating from the years 1938 to 1939, and 1946 to 1949. Each receipt records the date, name of the customer, goods and/or services given, and amount of the transaction. Also includes three individual receipts for oil that Garth Hosking purchased for the garage from Superline Oils Ltd. in 1950.

Series forms part of F. Mitchell, Hosking family fonds and consists of photographs accumulated by the Mitchell and Hosking families. Photographs are of people and places along the Eastern Shore, some of which are identified, including Mitchell and Hosking family members as well as pictures of the Garth M. Hosking General Store and Hosking’s Garage. Also includes a photograph of Mrs. Flora Mitchell. One picture, taken significantly later than the others, depicts Mildred Hosking and two other people in front of an historical display of the Hosking Store, probably around 1995.
